The 2022-2023 COVID-19 Leave Program is effective as of August 23, 2022, through June 30, 2023, for employees (only) who test positive for COVID-19.

 

During the 2022-2023 school year, BCPS shall authorize up to two (2) separate COVID-19 Leaves of not more than five (5) consecutive business, for each of the two (2) allowable COVID-19 Leave periods. Documented employeeCOVID-19 infections. COVID-19 tests taken prior to August 23, 2022, are ineligible. COVID-19 test results given to an employee prior to August 23, 2022, are ineligible.

 

Employees MUST first notify their positive COVID-19 status to [email protected].

 

To qualify for COVID-19 Leave, employees must submit documentation of their positive COVID-19 test result to [email protected].

  • Documentation must be in the form of a positive FDA-approved PCR test or a verified rapid antigen test. Home tests that are not verified by a laboratory are ineligible. 
  • Verification must be from a health provider, pharmacy, or laboratory (tests given by a school nurse is insufficient).
  • Documentation must include the employee's full name and date of positive test. COVID-19 tests taken prior to August 23, 2022, are ineligible. COVID-19 test results given to an employee prior to August 23, 2022, are ineligible. This message is subject to change as additional information becomes available.

Timekeeping & Coding

Supervisors and timekeepers remain responsible for timekeeping and coding throughout the course of the employee's absence.

  • Coding: Employee absences need to be correctly coded to avoid payroll issues.
  • To correct payroll coding errors, contact the Office of Payroll at 443-809-4240.  
  • An employee who has been off work due to personal illness or family illness needs to be coded as such, even if the employee has exhausted their time.
