Tuition and License Reimbursement

New Update.  Tuition reimbursement requests can now be processed. BCPS hourly staff can expect to see payments included in payroll checks starting March 12, 2021, and salaried staff will see payments starting March 19, 2021. Due to the volume of requests to be reviewed and processed, payments will be issued over a series of pay dates.

The Office of Certification has regained access to the human resources systems, but efforts to fully restore the application are still in progress.  While the system restoration continues, there are some services and requests the Office of Certification can resume.  As they become available, updates will be posted on the News Hub.

Office of Certification staff is available to answer certification questions and receive credentials such as electronic transcripts, ETS score reports, and certification requests.  MSDE certificate renewals and endorsements have resumed as normal.

Baltimore County Public Schools offers employees tuition reimbursement for the purpose of certification and educational enrichment.  The school system will reimburse up to nine (9) semester hours per fiscal year for staff represented by TABCO, CASE, AFSCME, and OPE. For employees represented by ESPBC, up to 12 credits per fiscal year are reimbursable.  The reimbursement cycle is from July 1st to June 30th.

You must complete a Tuition Reimbursement Form.  There is one form for all BCPS employees, provided in the documents below.  The rate as of July 1, 2017 is $300 per semester hour.  The request for reimbursement must be submitted within 30 calendar days of when the grade is available at the college or university.  For courses completed in the spring, administrators are on duty during the summer to sign reimbursement forms.  Approved reimbursements will be processed within eight weeks of receipt by the Office of Certification.

The documentation on this page provides instructions on how to submit your tuition or license reimbursement request.  Questions may be directed to the Office of Certification at or 443-809-4147.
