Tuition and License Reimbursement

In accordance with the mandated direction from the State Superintendent, school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the school year, in order to maintain the health and safety of our staff and students. 
 
Due to the school closures, please submit certification documents to the Office of Certification via email to certunit@bcps.org.  Electronic transcripts must be sent directly from the college or university to certunit@bcps.org.  Certification representatives will be monitoring this email account and responding to inquiries.  The timeline for reviewing all certification and reimbursement requests has not changed.  Please allow up to 6-8 weeks for your request to be reviewed.

Baltimore County Public Schools offers employees tuition reimbursement for the purpose of certification and educational enrichment.  The school system will reimburse up to nine (9) semester hours per fiscal year for staff represented by TABCO, CASE, AFSCME, and OPE. For employees represented by ESPBC, up to 12 credits per fiscal year are reimbursable.  The reimbursement cycle is from July 1st to June 30th.

You must complete a Tuition Reimbursement Form.  There is one form for all BCPS employees, provided in the documents below.  The rate as of July 1, 2017 is $300 per semester hour.  The request for reimbursement must be submitted within 30 calendar days of when the grade is available at the college or university.  For courses completed in the spring, administrators are on duty during the summer to sign reimbursement forms.  Approved reimbursements will be processed within eight weeks of receipt by the Office of Certification.
